John Lyndon, aka Johnny Rotten, is keen to write a song for Britney Spears after her recent troubles.

Speaking to The Sun Newspaper, the rotten rocker explained that the pain Britney’s been through lately could be the key to producing some amazing material "She has been hurt. And hurt is the root core essence of good music.”

John continued “I haven't written a song for Britney yet but I would love to. I'd like to help out because there's a girl who needs some help."

Britney was spotted recently at fashion designer Christian Audigier’s 50th Birthday Party, Brit was with her father and reported partner Jason Trewick.

Later in the evening, Michael Jackson, Mena Suvari, and Pamela Anderson were amongst guests to arrive at the party that featured performances from Fergie and Macy Gray.

Gimmie More played at Madonna's "Thank you" party.

It was essentially Madonna's after-party at that risque cabaret the Box last night. Earlier that evening, she and buddy Justin Timberlake played a performance, billed as a thank-you show for her successful record release, at the Roseland Ballroom. Joining friends like Domenico Dolce, Elizabeth Saltzman Walker, Rosie O'Donnell, Benjamin Cho, Ingrid Casares, Ingrid Sischy, Sandy Brant, Byrdie Bell, Leigh Lezark, and a slew of others who one couldn't identify in the seedy, dark environs, Madonna sauntered in swaddled in furs ("Could she be wearing more dead animals?" one person uttered, adding with a sigh,"She's so Madonna!") and balancing a martini between her well-manicured fingers. She only stayed for one of the evening's performances. Apparently she still loves shock value, but the Material Girl is totally a mother now. Let me describe the scene…carefully.

Britney Spears may have had shopping for little sister Jamie Lynn on the top of her agenda while visiting designer Christian Audigier at the Ed Hardy offices yesterday, but there was definitely business at hand.

“She wants to work on a clothing line with Christian,” says Ed Hardy representative Nicole Irving, who adds, “it was a closed door meeting, but we will say that they are planning to do a children’s clothing line.”

Spears sought out the former Von Dutch designer specifically to discuss the project, seeking his “flair on the line.” Irving explains, “I know the one thing she stressed, she loves and really respects Christian as a designer.”

As for the pop star, who spent the morning with her sons Jayden and Preston, Irving describes her as “just really warm and in good spirits.”

Long before Simon Cowell had his grips on American Idol contestant Kristy Lee Cook, another pop diva played mentor to the Carrie Underwood wannabe.

Back in 2000, Britney Spears signed 17-year-old Kristy as the first artist in her newly formed production company.

"Britney would tell her how beautiful and talented she was," says Marty Rendleman, Kristy’s manager at the time. "She told her that she would do whatever she needed to promote her and help launch her career."

The pop diva even promised to be in Kristy’s first video once her album dropped. But in 2003, Kristy asked to be released from her contract to pursue independent music projects.

It may have seemed like a questionable move at the time, but we're starting to think Simon has underestimated this season-seven finalist because one of these girls has a tour coming up this summer...and it's not Britney.

Lindsay Lohan is in. Britney Spears is out.

I hear Lindsay will likely be replacing Spears as host for next week’s Scandinavian Style Mansion gala in Los Angeles.

Spears was originally asked to host the soiree, which promotes high-end Scandinavian fashion, but organizer Claus Hjelmbak announced shortly after she was hospitalized in early January that she would no longer be fulfilling her duties.

“As a friend, my primary concern is for Britney’s well-being and giving her the love and support she needs,” Hjelmbak (left, with Spears in December) told E! News at the time.

Hjelmbak did not return calls today, but several sources tell me that Lohan has signed on. “I think so,” Lohan’s rep also said when asked if she’d be the night’s host.

Spears celebrated her 26th birthday at a Scandinavian Style Mansion event in December. Guests included celebrity host Sharon Stone and Paris Hilton.

Ummm.... why did you divorce him then?

Britney Spears's mom, Lynne, has been praising her ex-husband, Jamie, who has taken control of their troubled daughter's affairs.

"Jamie had to change his whole routine. Lynne sings his praises. He has been such a rock. He has stepped up to the plate," a family friend tells PEOPLE.

"He's gathered a team of reputable people who are around [Britney] now. She's not well, but for the first time in a long time she has people around her who really care about her."

As for how Lynne is coping with having her daughter in and out of the hospital, the friend says, "She's up and down. It's a roller coaster ride as a mother."

Plus, Lynne also wants to spend time with her pregnant 16-year-old daughter, Jamie Lynn, who lives in Kentwood, La., the source says. In fact, Lynne, who has been shuttling between Louisiana and California, is currently back in Los Angeles. "She has to spend time between L.A. and Kentwood. As a mother she feels needed in both places. She's doing whatever she can to help both girls. She's got that maternal instinct, and it's in high gear."

MTV has pulled that blurb from their site and released a statement saying, "The video is NOT premiering on Monday."

First Mr. Blackwell left her off his list because he felt bad for her and now PETA too? Wow, they have no mercy on anyone.

PETA thinks Aretha Franklin is no queen of soul when it comes to wearing fur.

Franklin was crowned this year's worst-dressed celebrity by the animal rights organization. Her crime: wearing "yet another vulgar fur" at the Grammy Awards.

"... you looked as if you were going to perform `I Am the Walrus' by the Beatles," People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said Wednesday of Franklin's appearance. "You might be a queen, but you don't know jack about compassion."

"How 'bout some R-E-S-P-E-C-T for animals?" PETA added.

The other offenders are Marilyn Manson, Eva Longoria ("in her trashy furs, she looks like the streetwalker of Wisteria Lane"), Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue.

PETA called Minogue cold-blooded for toting a python purse. As for Lohan, the group remarked: "`I Know Who Killed Me' isn't just the title of Lindsay Lohan's latest bomb, it's the cry of the animals snuffed out so this `Mean Girl' can pose in their pelts."

Britney Spears faces a further two court hearings in Los Angeles next week.

One will deal with the ongoing custody battle with her former husband, Kevin Federline.

The other matter concerns the restraining order obtained by the singer's parents against her former manager.

It is anyone's guess whether the troubled pop star will turn up for either hearing.

But one thing is for certain: the LA paparazzi will once again gear up for another potentially wild week, in search of that lucrative snap of the most interesting celebrity on the planet.

Whether Spears really is interesting to us is a matter of opinion.

But judging by the relentless, some would say ruthless, way the singer is pursued, the world seems to have an insatiable appetite for the latest titbit of news about the star.

She provides endless hours of water-cooler gossip and tabloid headlines.

"She's her own 24-hour reality television show," says Rob Cohen, who lives in Los Angeles.

"She gives you whatever you want, whenever you want it. She's going to do something new and screwy every second and it's always there."

I saw this earlier and forgot to post it. These kids, a band called A Cursive Memory, are total geniuses. They got Britney and a whole bunch of people (namely Carlton!) to star in their music video. Not the best song but they put in a lot of time and work to do this and it paid off.

LOL, I wonder if this breaks anyone's contract.

LOL like that can happen. They are out of their minds. Samantha Jade does have the ability to be better then she is in the video below. The video below is a joke. That song is a joke. Britney's album was the best of her career. It was just overshadowed by her.

Who will replace Britney Spears? As the sad story of Britney Spears' downward spiral and ongoing struggles continues to occupy celeb sites and tabloids, 20-year-old Australian singer Samantha Jade appears ready to step up.

Animal activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are urging Britney Spears' parents to overhaul the troubled singer's eating habits--because her ongoing mental-health issues could be linked to her diet.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has written to Jamie and Lynne Spears, suggesting the "Toxic" hitmaker's reported schizophrenia or bipolar disorders could be related to her meat and dairy intake.

Newkirk writes, "We have heard that Britney asked for ice cream while she was in the hospital. There could, in fact, be a connection between her diet and her mental-health problems.

"Numerous reports indicate that in bipolar patients who have hidden dairy sensitivities (a fairly common condition), the disorder can worsen if the patient consumes dairy products.

"And a significant body of research--including evidence cited by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention--has linked parasites that are often found in undercooked meat (Toxoplasma gondii) to the development of schizophrenia."

Exactly how many musicals refer to Britney Spears for god's sake?? Yet another musical change... and again Brit is being replaced by Posh Spice... the other day it was We Will Rock You and today it's Spamalot...

Britney Spears is out, Posh Spice is in — as a lyric for the Lady in the Lake in the Broadway musical "Monty Python's Spamalot."

Asked why the lyric was changed in the song "Diva's Lament," "Spamalot" author Eric Idle said Tuesday in an e-mail:

"Because we don't laugh at sad people. Mike Nichols (the show's director) requested it and he's right. We changed the lyrics in London, on tour, on Broadway and in Las Vegas. We think that it's now too sad. Britney Spears is being tortured to death and we don't want to be on that side."

The changes went into the various companies last week.

What the Lady in the Lake (currently played on Broadway by Hannah Waddingham) once sang:

Breaking news! Sort of... No Britney's not back in the hospital. No she's not shooting her next music video yet. But she IS apparently changin up her look! Kim Vo, celebrity hair stylist extraordinaire (also rated best blonder by Vogue Magazine), stopped by Britney's home in the Summit today to do her hair, and is now opening up about his adventure to E!'s The Daily 10.

Stylist rep emailed - she is not blonde, but a "sultry brown" with new extensions! It is very "long and straight." Can't wait for the debut.
